Harrogate Theatre: Behind The Scenes

Saturday 21 January 2pm
Free to Friends, £5 for Non-Friends
Harrogate Theatre Circle Bar
Anne Cherry needs no introduction given her long, active and valued support for
the theatre. We are grateful to her for agreeing to give an introductory talk
about the theatre, almost to the day 112 years after the first performance on
11th January 1900 with a charity gala performance in aid of troops involved
with the Boer War which was then followed by an opening performance on 13th
January 1900 of Dick Whittington. Anne’s talk will be followed by a theatre
tour. So this is a wonderful opportunity both to hear about a fascinating
century-long history and then actually see at close quarters the wonderful
Victorian theatre which we can still enjoy so much today - lead by someone who
loves it.

Harrogate could hardly be further away from the sea, but what about in 50 years

We are very privileged to have David Cherry, a chartered environmentalist, with
a degree in Environmental Sciences to come and deliver his illustrated talk to
us. He has lectured to MPs in London, and also at the Universities of East
Anglia, Leeds and Edinburgh on Climate Change. He will also talk about how our
climate will change as time goes by, and explain what might happen in our very
own Yorkshire in the decades to come.
