2’s Company 2016 is set to take theatre beyond the stage and into the community

Harrogate Theatre has announced the programme for 2’s Company 2016 – a cutting edge festival of theatre adventures taking place across June, July and September. For the last six years 2’s Company has presented an opportunity to experience and engage with performers in new and exciting ways. This year’s theme is ‘bringing theatre to you’, with shows taking place in social and community spaces, including pubs and a library.

On the programme for 2016, Petrification (20-22 Jun) - by Telltale in association with LittleMighty - is a play for anyone who ever left home and came back to find everything changed. And for anyone who never went away in the first place. As three men head out for a boozy night, friction builds over a childhood memory. Taking place in three different pubs on three consecutive nights in June, the audience is thrust into the heart of one family’s search for truth.

Haunt (30 Jun-2 Jul) – by Imove Arts - is a ghost walk with a difference around Harrogate town centre. Using stories developed from working with writers who have experienced homelessness in Harrogate, Haunt is an intriguing guided journey incorporating images, music, words and performance.

Intense Attachment (2 & 3 Sep) – presented by the Wayne Sables Project - is a deeply personal, moving and meaningful show about becoming a parent. This is a poignant site-specific performance combining dance, film, live music and new technology to uncover the joys and difficulties when forming an intense attachment with an unborn child.

Finally Bookish (6 Sep) is a show about books set at Harrogate Library. The audience chooses the books before the show then Tom Adams and Laura Mugridge use these selections to deliver an evening of live music, laughter and words, with wine and cheese and maybe even a quiz.

Every year 2’s Company Festival sources new and unusual performance pieces in order to push both the boundaries and traditional perceptions of theatre. So try something new in 2016, and brace yourself for a very different and exhilarating theatre adventure.

Tickets for these events are on sale now and can be booked securely online or through the Harrogate Theatre Box Office on 01423 502116.
