“The sporting world is of such high intensity that you have to be able to compete as a top athlete at the highest level. This means you’ll do almost anything – even if it involves pushing the boundaries of fair play.” Danny Mills

Join Match of the Day 2’s Mark Chapman and ex-England footballer Danny Mills, alongside other special guests including Mark Lawrenson, Nigel Martyn, Mark Hovell, Colin Cooper, Neil Sullivan, Pat Nevin and Dermot Gallagher for Sporting Truths – a fundraising evening of sport, comedy and debate in aid of Shine and Harrogate Theatre Trust. With many more stars of the sporting world to be announced, this hugely entertaining evening gives you an unmissable insight into the world of sport and uncovers some of the shocking truths from behind the scenes.

The evening kicks off with entertainment from comedian and BBC Radio 5 Live regular and festival favourite Ian Moore, after which members of the celebrity panel lock horns to debate some of the key issues affecting the world of sport, as well as revealing what really goes on off the pitch. There’ll also be the opportunity to put your questions to the panel and discover your own sporting truths. The evening will conclude with a grand raffle featuring prizes including exclusive sporting memorabilia, amongst other luxury lots.

Danny Mills, known to many as the ex-England, Leeds and Manchester City footballer and pundit, became a patron of Shine when he lost his baby son to Spina bifida. Established in 1966, Shine is a registered charity providing help for families and individuals affected by Spina bifida and Hydrocephalus. Supporting this event will ensure that Shine can continue to deliver care and help for many years to come.

Also a registered charity, Harrogate Theatre has been providing world-class entertainment to the District for 113 years. Education & Outreach is at the heart of everything that happens at HarrogateTheatre and through this department the theatre aims to engage with young people within the District. Like many organisations Harrogate Theatre has been hit by some drastic funding decisions in recent years. With funding continually eroding, the theatre needs the support of the community to ensure that its work can continue to benefit audiences of the future.
