Comedian of the Year: The Final
Part of Harrogate Comedy Festival 2013
It all comes down to this, the big one: who will walk away with this year’s title of Harrogate Comedy Festival Comedian of the Year 2013?
Heat One Winners
"Eddie French has been doing stand up for
just shy of 4 years. These days he sometimes does it with a guitar. He has
gigged all over the country and has spent the last three Augusts at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival doing stand up and performing with The Discount
Comedy Checkout Improv group. He is still uncomfortable writing about himself
in the third person."
Nigel is an idiosyncratic act who mixes dark and
surreal deadpan humour. In 2013 Nigel has won Rawhide Raw Liverpool, Beat
the Frog in Manchester and Preston, and Chunky's Comedy Clap Off in Bolton.
Heat Two Winners
The name is President Obonjo of Lafta Republic and I have been performing stand-up comedy

I also talk about the stereotypes of being a Nigerian , the impact of Social media on my
life. Also included in my acts are political, topical and observational comedy .
President Obonjo is a creative thinker.

Sheffield, composed of Mike Bentley, Tom Burgess and Sam Nicoresti. They
recently returned from a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe, during which they
also won the Gilded Balloon's 'So You Think That's Funny?' Best New Sketch Act
2013 competition. They hear Harrogate is very nice.
Dalia Malek's dark and irreverent humour
has helped her progress in comedy quickly. She had never performed before
entering the Chortle Student Comedy Award 2012, but after only three months of
doing comedy, she became a finalist. She has since appeared at Latitude
Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as Chortle's Fast Fringe at
the Pleasance. She won the open mic competition at the Comedy Store in La
Jolla, and as a result opened at the Best of San Diego. She also won the Beat
the Frog gong show in Manchester, and has provided tour support for Ava Vidal's
solo show, and supported acts like Tony Law and Hannibal Buress.

Tommy is a rising star of the UK
comedy circuit with a love of the absurd and a Hawaiian shirt that he likes to
think is a subtle nod to Milton Jones but most people think is a shameless rip
“Tommy is a fantastic gag writer
and is no doubt going to be huge. A star in the ascendancy.”
Originally from Northern Ireland, Chris has lived
in England for over seven years, the past two of which have seen him perform
across the country with his affable, gag heavy and at times downright silly
stand up routines. He has been described as "almost impossible to
dislike" (Ten Feet Tall Comedy) and "a very funny comedian with a
very promising future ahead of him" (Smacked Arse Comedy).
