Buy Tickets Hyena Comedy Club June 2014

Harrogate Theatre's very own monthly comedy club.

Line up includes:

Andrew Bird

Andrew hails from Northamptonshire and moved to London to pursue a career in stand-up. He worked in a bar where he practised making the regulars laugh before his career in live comedy took off.

Since then, Andrew has become a top headline act up and down the UK as well as performing around the world from Dublin to Doha. He has also supported Rhod Gilbert and Lee Hurst on tour, and been the warm-up artist for TV shows including Nevermind The Buzzcocks, Room 101 and Pointless. Andrew is also a writer in demand having written for series such as 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Mock The Week.

"Clearly immensely talented... demands to be seen... star of the future"
The Sunday Times

Rob Rouse

According to the Independent, Rob's 'cartoon face and cheeky banter allow him to get away with murder'. He is definitely one of comedy's most lively, loveable and dynamic performers.

'With more energy than a hyperactive six-year-old sucking on a lollipop while bouncing on a spacehopper, Rob Rouse is one of the UK’s hottest – and liveliest – comedians.'
Crackerjack

His TV credits include presenting the first series of The Friday Night Project on Channel 4, the C4 sketch show Spoons, and playing Mike in the first series of he BBC3 sitcom Grown Ups.

Andre Vincent

"He possesses the energy of Lee Evans with the improvisational Skills of Paul Merton and is one of the best comedians in the business."
The Times

"Ferociously funny"
The Sunday Times

"Honesty and truth (and funny lines) are comedy essentials and fortunately Vincent has come more than prepared. Physically and vocally reminiscent of Phill Jupitus, this corpulent comic is an utterly welcoming presence, lacing his blokeish jollity with welcome shots of rage and giggling incomprehension. He immediately puts the audience at ease, discussing his 'little issue' in an entirely matter-of-fact yet utterly compelling manner, he manages to hone in on the absurdity of each situation, while retaining an impressively level-headed perspective."
Metro

André Vincent is one of those rare entertainers who does it all. Comedian, actor, writer, director, presenter, singer, circus boy…a born show-off.

This lay-by on the information super highway hopes to explain why he has spent his life facing the opposite direction to everyone else in the room.

Nish Kumar

A comedian on the up…. An ingenious, witty look at identity that suggests Kumar will soon be getting known for all the right reasons.’ The Times
‘A highly polished, subtly innovative stand-up…. He nails the punchlines over and over again, thanks to taut, economical writing that puts audience pleasure firmly ahead of self-indulgence…. His is a talent worth catching up with.’
Guardian

‘Slick, sharp and with oodles of charm, Nish Kumar is a comedian, and a bloody good one at that.’
★★★★ Time Out

In the collection of anecdotes, his best – and funniest – routines involve him tackling the ignorant racism that he’s sadly had to endure. His re-enactments of futile debates with a drunk heckler and agonising over whether to correct “inaccurate racism” get the biggest laughs of the night.

He also showcases a talent for impersonations with a riff on British binge drinking and the horror of the work night out solved only by copious Jaegerbombs. (We’ve all been there.)

2014 is already proving promising for Nish, with a BBC Radio 4 project in development, a regular writing spot on the recently re-released (and namesake) show ‘The Kumars’ (Sky One) and an imminent step over to the small screen on ‘The Alternative Comedy Experience’ curated by Stewart Lee for Comedy Central, Nish has firmly cemented his comedian status and is one to watch for 2014.
