COMPERE: Danny Deegan

"Charming, witty and most importantly funny"

HEAT ONE WINNERS

Fern Brady

In 2011 Fern Brady abruptly left a promising career as a hard-hitting news journalist for stand-up and within a few months had beaten over 500 new acts to reach the final of So You Think You're Funny, the UK's most prestigious comedy newcomer competition. She regularly plays the Stand Comedy Club, The Frog & Bucket and many more clubs across the country. Originally from Edinburgh, she now lives in York.

Rob Mullholland
Grumpiness is not just a symptom of old age. Rob Mulholland is the living proof.

HEAT TWO WINNERS

Dan Bland
Dan Bland brings a touch of darkness to the comedy circuit. His morbidly deadpan disposition owes more to a grumpy undertaker than a genial stand-up comedian. But that funereal facade belies a devilish comic mind that has beguiled countless audiences. Delivering explosive one-liners with razor-sharp precision, deadpan Dan unfailingly ensures that he is the only person in the room to keep a straight face.

Tom Taylor
England born Tom Taylor is one half of the musical double act, Tom Taylor and his Casio Orchestra.  Fourteen months into making no impression on the circuit, Tom has lost every major comedy competition in the first round with the exception of one where he stormed the qualifiers before being refused a chair in the quarterfinals. This flustered him.

“Brilliantly shambolic.  A cross between Bill Bailey and John Shuttleworth”
Simon Bligh, (professional) comedian

HEAT THREE WINNERS

Peter Brush
Peter has been performing for a couple of years, based in Leeds but has gigged anywhere between Brighton up to Edinburgh. Main influences are Woody Allen, Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg. He also once sold a joke about a monkey to the people at 118 118 for £20.

Abi Roberts
Abi Roberts and her big hair exploded onto the stand-up comedy scene in 2011, after a number of years as a musical and cabaret performer. She has been dubbed by critics as "Robin Williams with tits" (The Guardian). UK Comedy website Chortle described her as "a consummate entertainer". Abi is a one-off and a comedy whirlwind. She ranges from high-energy physical comedy, great stories and audience banter to unique musical impersonations and spot-on impressions.

WILDCARD PICKS

James Christopher
James is an upbeat and affable act who has performed as an act and a compere on the Northern English circuit since 2005. His act incorporates one-liners, stories, a beermat, and an impression of John Bishop. In 2012, James performed ‘Bring Me The Head Of Russell Kane’, his third full solo show at the Edinburgh Festival on the award-winning PBH Free Fringe.

Rachel Fairburn
Former City Life Comedian of the Year finalist, Funny Women finalist, Budweiser Legends of Laughter Finalist.
Winner of nothing.
This will probably be my epitaph.

"Oodles of charm....fresh and imaginitive"
Chortle
