Theatre & Tamasha Theatre looking for extras for World Premiere co-production

Company &
Harrogate Theatre are
looking for at least four actresses to act as extras in the upcoming World
Premiere production of
The House of Bilquis Bibi which the two organisations are co-producing. The extras will be needed
for the
Harrogate Theatre performances in
September.

This will be
a unique opportunity to be part of this exciting show which features renowned Bollywood
actress and singer
Ila Arun and
Indira Joshi who is best known as
the mother from
The Kumars at No 42.
The House of Bilquis Bibi is a passionate
interpretation of Federico García Lorca's 1936 masterpiece,
The House of
Bernarda Alba. Relocated to Pakistan’s
fertile Punjab region, it tells a personal yet
subtly political story of small town lives with global ties. The extras will
be a crucial part of the mourning scene in the opening part of the play where
the family is mourning the death of Bilquis Bibi’s husband and the father to
her five daughters. Extras will be present in the first twenty minutes of the
show.
Tamasha Theatre are celebrating
their 21
st Anniversary in 2010 and are regarded as one of the
country’s most exciting theatre company’s. Best known for developing
East Is East in 1996, which became a
smash-hit film, they visited
Harrogate
Theatre last year with their Bollywood version of the Bronte classic
Wuthering Heights.
To be considered as an extra the applicants must be:
- aged over 18
- available for rehearsals on Mon 13 & Tue 14
Sept.
- available for all performances: Tue 14 – Sat 18
Sept 7.30pm + Sat 18 Sept 2.30pm.
- rehearsals & performances will all take place
at Harrogate Theatre
- actresses must have the
ability to play Asian and can include any women whose physical appearance could
suggest that they are Asian or women of dual heritage/ any other Ethnic or
Cultural background.
- Please note: this is an
unpaid engagement and full costume will be provided.
