Phil spent two years as Assistant Director at Harrogate Theatre and had the pleasure of working with Christopher Luscombe on Things We Do For Love, Lennox Greaves on Mother Goose and Jack & the Beanstalk, and with Hannah Chissick on Teechers which transferred to Poland, Ain’t Misbehavin, House & Garden, Steaming, Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle & Dick, Ghosts, Bouncers and The Fantasticks.
Phil is very proud to return to Harrogate Theatre for his sixth pantomime.

Oh yes he is!
Phil has directed seven other shows at Harrogate Theatre including the last five pantomimes: Beauty & The Beast, Dick Whittington, Aladdin, Cinderella and Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, Harrogate Youth Theatre’s summer production of The BFG, the sell out studio production of The Dumb Waiter and the main house production of Bed Among the Lentils in Talking Heads by Alan Bennett. Most recently he directed Fagin’s Last Hour with Brother Wolf Productions which transferred to the West End and embarks on a national tour in 2012. As well as co-writing Beauty & the Beast this year, Phil also co-wrote the last three Harrogate Theatre pantomimes – Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin and Dick Whittington.
David Bown
Writer
A graduate of the University of London, David has been an actor, writer and director in theatre and television in the UK and America. He was also head of performing arts at Northampton College, Artistic Director of The Castle Theatre in Northampton and is currently Chief Executive of Harrogate Theatre. His pantomimes include Dick Whittington and Aladdin (Harrogate Theatre) and his plays include: Ballads, Stand (Sunday Times Playwriting Award), Loaded (Peggy Ramsay PMA Award), Night and Day, The Wedding and a musical adaptation of the Carel Kapek play RUR. For children he has written Big Bad Wolf and a musical version of The Emperor’s New Clothes.
