Volunteer
Volunteering at Harrogate Theatre couldn’t be easier and there are lots of ways you can help. From becoming an usher to distributing posters, our volunteers play a much valued role in the running of the theatre.
Ushers
Our volunteer ushers are invaluable to us. Ushers cover a range of duties, from taking tickets, selling ice creams and programmes, to staffing the shop and the cloakroom and helping people to their seats. Full training is given and new recruits are partnered with more experienced ushers. There is no upper age limit on becoming an usher, but you would need to think about the late finishing time and getting home safely after the show. If you would like to volunteer contact
Caroline Burnett, Operations Manager on 01423 502 710 ext 102.
Archiving
We have posters, programmes and photographs from many of our past productions which need identifying and labelling and adding to our reference file. This is a fascinating pass-time for anyone with an interest in the history of Harrogate Theatre or just a general interest in theatre. The archives are a valuable resource for the theatre and we regularly receive contributions to it from the public, as well as adding to it from our own productions, so maintaining it is an ongoing job.
Mail shots
We regularly send out letters to our audiences with news of forthcoming productions. If you have a couple of hours to spare every few weeks or so, and would like to help us prepare mailings we would love to hear from you. It’s good opportunity to catch up with other theatre lovers over tea and biscuits and help the theatre at the same time.
Poster Distribution
Many of the local shops and business display posters for the theatre, perhaps you could help us by volunteering to distribute posters and flyers in your area. We would be especially interested to hear from people in the out lying villages who would like to help distribute posters for us, as well as those of you based in Harrogate itself. It just takes a few minutes to do and generates lots of interest in the shows.
If you would like to give a little of your time we would love to hear from you. To find out more about these volunteer opportunities please email
Robert Lynch or just give us a ring on 01423 502 710.
