Roderick Williams baritone and Iain Burnside piano
Baritone Roderick Williams is rapidly establishing himself as a leading interpreter of Schubert lieder. He has mastered the art of communicating with his audience and is an ideal interpreter of what is Schubert's most extremely intense and bleak song cycle.
'a natural and expressive communicator, conveying the drama and anguish of these miniatures without ever resorting to excessive vocal or theatrical gestures.' New York Times
Pianist and Sony Award-winning broadcaster, Iain Burnside, is also one of the great musical communicators. Whilst he has performed in recital with many of the world’s leading singers he seems to have established a close association with Roderick Williams, presenting recitals of Schubert lieder throughout the UK.
This recital is the second in our planned series of all the Schubert song cycles: Schwanengesang is scheduled for season 2018/19.
