After-school drama clubs
Harrogate Theatre’s after-school drama clubs give pupils the opportunity to work towards their own performance in the Harrogate Studio Theatre via a creative and challenging drama club.
“I thought that the whole experience was absolutely fantastic. I was truly amazed at the quality of the children’s work, all down to your superb teaching! They were ‘buzzing’ from the experience and parents were so proud of them - as was I. I am still amazed at how well everyone did, particularly our youngest ones.” Headteacher
- Forge greater links with local primary schools through working with them over a longer period of time
- Provide a worthwhile outcome for the participants
- Enable primary schools to use Harrogate Theatre’s staff and resources
Each school works with a Harrogate Theatre practitioner over a 10-week period in a 60-minute after-school drama club. In week 11, the club is invited to the theatre to spend the afternoon touring our historic Victorian building and rehearsing for an evening performance for friends and family held in our versatile 60-seater Studio Theatre.
The children build a lasting relationship with Harrogate Theatre through having the opportunity to work with our skilled members of staff and use the building for their own unique performance, complemented by full lighting and sound support. Participants build in confidence, creativity, teamwork and most importantly work towards a tangible end product to be really proud of and share with friends and family in a free (but ticketed) performance.
We work with a maximum of 4 schools per term on Monday to Thursday afternoons.
