There are two groups for this age range and they are called 2a and 2b. There are up to 16 people in each group. They meet every Saturday during term time, 2a meet 9.15am-10.15am. 2b meet 10.35am-11.35am.
They develop group working skills, performing in character and create a performance. This group perform in a full-scale production once a year, in the Spring Term. Each performance will be for a large ensemble cast, which means there will always be a part for everyone, with no big or small parts. These shows will either be scripted or devised (created from scratch by the young people).
Our staff will monitor each child's progression over an academic year and encourage a supportive atmosphere. At the end of each term certificates are given to recognise Most Improved and Actor Spectacular.
By taking part in Youth Theatre, young people can choose to work towards an Arts Award qualification, accredited by Trinity College London. To achieve their Arts Award, young people take on challenges in an art form, participate in arts activities, experience arts events, get inspired by artists and share their arts skills with others. This age group can work towards the Explore Arts Award. This is not compulsory.
Youth Theatre run by Disclosure and Barring Service checked theatre professionals with outstanding theatre training and are supported by an assistant.
