Bringing all the Big Names to Harrogate’s Main Stages

As well as booking shows at Harrogate Theatre’s main auditorium and Studio theatre, the team at Harrogate Theatre also bring many big names to Harrogate’s other main stages.

As we are coming to the end of 2019, I thought I’d look back at all the amazing big names we’ve brought to the town over the last year.

In February BBC Radio 2 broadcaster and jazz singer Clare Teal came to Harrogate Theatre, and we welcomed comedian Henning Wehn to the Royal Hall.

What a March! Collabro and Shakin’ Stevens both came to the Royal Hall, Paul Carrack was at Harrogate Convention Centre, and Rhod Gilbert brought the laughs to Harrogate Theatre.

In April, we presented the wonderful Alfie Boe to a jam-packed auditorium at Harrogate Convention Centre.

Both Francis Rossi and Julian Clary came to Harrogate Theatre in May, and that same month The Vamps wowed the excitable crowds Harrogate Convention Centre.

June arrived and so did the Strictly dancers Aljaž Škorjanec, Giovanni Pernice and Gorka Marquez with Here Come the Boys - a fantastic evening of glitz and glamour with all the moves.

In July we presented award-winning funny man James Acaster to a packed house at Harrogate Theatre.

As September came around and Harrogate became the world’s centre of excellence in cycling, former professional road and track racing cyclist Bradley Wiggins CBE joined us at the Royal Hall.

In October it was time for the 11th Harrogate Comedy Festival, including shows from funny folk John Bishop and Ruby Wax at Harrogate Theatre, and Jimmy Carr plus legends Des O’Connor & Jimmy Tarbuck at the Royal Hall.

November was another huge month for big names in Harrogate. Jools Holland and Diversity both played phenomenal nights at Harrogate Convention Centre. At the Royal Hall actor, presenter and musician Alexander Armstrong brought his first ever stand-up tour; Ben Fogle shared his Tales from the Wilderness; Rhod Gilbert returned; and Jasper Carrott & Alistair McGowan brought their inimitable brand of comedy, with more stand-up and impressions.

In December, the brilliant Rick Wakeman received rave reviews for his performance at the Royal Hall.

What a year it’s been for Harrogate!

We’ve already booked yet more big names for Harrogate in Spring 2020 including Ed Byrne, David Baddiel, Russell Watson, Elkie Brooks, Jack Dee, and Jay Rayner.

All our upcoming shows are at www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk or pick up a Spring 2020 What’s On guide from mid-January.
