Snow White is open!
Snow White is officially OPEN! We’ve started to welcome local schools and families through our doors, and our press and guest night went down a storm. Harrogate Theatre Choir sung their hearts out as the audience arrived, the fizz was flowing, and we welcomed a full house of excited families into the building.
Did you know last year more than 33,000 people came into Harrogate and through our doors to see the Harrogate Theatre pantomime? I’ll let you into a secret… almost 29,000 people are already booked for Snow White, with six weeks still to go!
We’ve already welcomed several press and reviewers, with more still to come. So, what’s the verdict?
Graham Chalmers of the Harrogate Advertiser said “Scripted as always by the theatre's dynamic duo of David Bown and Phil Lowe, the production is intelligent without being clever clever, silly without being vulgar, imaginative and entertaining from start to finish. Rather than plot complications, this year's show focuses on providing non-stop entertainment at every turn - and succeeds in spades. Boasting superb sets awash in glitter created by Harrogate Theatre's own scenic services department, it's no wonder the Harrogate panto won a national award last year.”
Richard Trinder of The Yorkshire Times adds: “Sparkling, witty, colourful and great family fun: Harrogate Theatre's 2019 Snow White panto has kicked-off a top-notch performance [and] definitely raised the bar this year… it's well worth braving the icy weather to go and see Snow White.”
Always Time for Theatre had a great time, too: “Set in Happygate, Yawnshire, this rollicking crowd pleaser entertains all folk, but mostly Yorkshire locals who will enjoy the cheeky asides about the Stray and recent events. Add to the mix plenty of musical numbers and a cracking cast and you’ve got yourself a great start to the Christmas season.”
If you’re coming along over the next few weeks, please do leave us feedback on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Trip Advisor. You can use #HTPanto so we can watch out for your message, too.
It may be a little premature but thank you to all of you who support the Harrogate Pantomime. We’re proud that it’s truly ‘made in Harrogate’ from start to finish, and without the income from panto Harrogate Theatre simply wouldn’t exist. When you’re enjoying your sparkly, festive night out with the family this Christmas, you’re doing much more than you realise for the town.
