There are three groups for this age range, and they are called 3a, 3b and 3c. There are up to 20 people in each group. 3a meet on Mondays 5pm-6.30pm during term time. 3b meet on Tuesdays 5pm-6.30pm during term time. 3c meet on Wednesdays 5pm-6.30pm during term time.
They learn about theatre directors, writers and specific styles of theatre. They also further develop their performance skills. This group perform in a full-scale production once a year, in the Summer Term. Each performance will be for a large ensemble cast, which means there will always be a part for everyone, with no big or small parts. These shows will either be scripted or devised (created from scratch by the young people).
Our staff will monitor each child's progression over an academic year and encourage a supportive atmosphere. At the end of each term two certificates are given, one is the Leader Award, the other is the Peer Award.
By taking part in Youth Theatre, young people can choose to work towards an Arts Award qualification, accredited by Trinity College London. To achieve their Arts Award, young people take on challenges in an art form, participate in arts activities, experience arts events, get inspired by artists and share their arts skills with others. This age group can work towards the Bronze or Silver Arts Award. This is not compulsory.
Theatre Trips, the groups will be able to attend shows together at an additional cost of £5 per show, which will be added on to their term fee.
Youth Theatre run by Disclosure and Barring Service checked theatre professionals with outstanding theatre training and are supported by an assistant.
