Harrogate Theatre announces Partner Schools for 23/24

Harrogate Theatre is pleased to announce its School Partnerships for 23/24. Building on a hugely successful inaugural year Harrogate Theatre’s School Partnership Scheme sees the theatre working closely with two primary schools to enrich their curriculum and provide memorable learning experiences for every pupil in the school.

Led by Creative Engagement Manager, and former teacher herself, Niki Alderson, the scheme provides cross curricular workshops on a broad range of topics from local history to sound and light, offers ticket discounts to staff, a free theatre tour and includes its ever popular after school drama club. Stand out moments in the first year even included a special Q & A with members of the panto cast for the lucky pupils of 22/23 partner Grove Road Community Primary School.

Niki Alderson says:

“Working in partnership with primary schools brings together two sides of my professional experience, as both a teacher and a youth theatre leader. Using theatre skills to explore the past and see science in action in a theatre setting leads to memorable learning experiences that shape young people’s enjoyment and success at school.”

Jane Turner, Headteacher at Pannal Primary School, one of the school partners for 22/23 said:

“Our partnership with Harrogate Theatre has been a great success. Every class have experienced high quality drama workshops and the after-school club received great feedback from both pupils and parents. It has been a pleasure working with such a professional organisation whilst also knowing we are raising awareness in our school community about this important & historic resource.”

In 2023 / 2024 Harrogate Theatre will be working with North Rigton Church of England Primary School and Scotton Lingerfield Community Primary School.

Sophia Gardiner, Base Leader at North Rigton C of E School says,

“At North Rigton CE Primary School we are extremely excited to be partnering up with Harrogate Theatre this year.

Having worked with Niki and her team previously, we know the huge benefits that the expertise of the Theatre team has on both our children and our staff. We are passionate about giving the children in our school the opportunity to engage in a broad and balanced curriculum, enriched by extra-curricular, creative opportunities like the Theatre Club and drama workshops.

It is set to be an exciting year partnering up with Harrogate Theatre and we are looking forward to working with the team to help create many special memories for our children.”
