Who Dares, Wins!

Join us for a good old giggle as 14 hopeful comedians have a go at winning our competition!

 

This is Harrogate's sixth annual Comedian of the Year competition and it has attracted interest from budding comedians from across the nation. Each contestant will perform in the heats, and if the judges think they’re cracking enough funny bones, they’ll be sent through to the final. The winner will get a cash prize of a whopping £350 and a slot on our main stage at the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club Closing Gala on Saturday 14 October.

Heat 1 – Monday 2 October

Mandy McCarthy - @mandy_mccarthy1

Mandy’s stand up is informed by being ‘on the clock’ and the absurdities of life.

 

Chrissy Ann Horsfall 

Local lass Chrissy’s material is about life with the lid off, and driving on the roads in the 21st century.

 

Rev Allan Finnegan - @aifinnegan

Hotwater Liverpool comedian of the year 2015

"A bad priest but a great act" Binty Blair (Hotwater comedy)

 

Eddie French - @EddietheFrench

Eddie makes jokes with his voice, his guitar and hates writing about himself in the third person.

Heat 2 – Tuesday 3 October

The line-up for Heat 2 is:

 

Steff Todd - @SteffTodd

Steff Todd is a new name, a comedian who over a short space of time has already made her mark, with a unique mix of sharp one-liners and celebrity impressions.

 

Spring Day - @springdaycomedy

Spring Day, real name, hippie parents. Voted Brooklyn's Best Comic 2016, Smart Comedy Award Winner, roaster, more left-handed than you and excellent fruit fly.

 

Fran Garrity - @frangarrity1

Fran has an easy and instant rapport with the audience and some captivating material that delivers big laughs.

 

Jack Gleadow - @thejackglead

Gigging in a material world and I am a material girl - Winner Opportunity Knocks 1986.

 

Jim McMaster - @jimmcmaster7 

All about the trivial minutiae of life that for some reason annoy him, his inability to grow a beard, people wearing sandals, as well as highlighting the ridiculousness of dog ownership.
