122 Love Stories

Love is all around at Harrogate Theatre
Do you have a love story connected with Harrogate Theatre?

Following on from the success of Our Gate last summer, we are celebrating 122 years of Harrogate Theatre by searching for 122 love stories and a number of participants to form our next community company and perform at Harrogate Theatre in July.

To create this show we’re looking for 122 love stories linked to Harrogate Theatre, which has been at the heart of the community for 122 years. We’re keen to hear tales that encompass love in all its forms.

Did you...meet a friend for life in the stalls...create family memories in the circle...share a laugh in the balcony...lock eyes across the stage....long for love in the wings...propose at the panto...fall in love with theatre...?

Inspired by a photograph of the wedding reception of a friend’s parents at Harrogate Theatre in 1961 - David Bown Chief Executive and Playwright- said

“It prompted me to contemplate how many love stories this amazing building has to tell. Harrogate Theatre has been at the centre of our community for over a century, it has many poignant tales to share, we look forward to working with Rachael and Amie to discover and celebrate these with 122 Love Stories.”

At the helm of this community show will be local playwright and community producer Rachael Halliwell and director Amie Burns Walker returning to build on the excitement and community spirit that Our Gate started.  Rachael said:

“I'm absolutely thrilled to have been commissioned by Harrogate Theatre to return with Amie Burns Walker to make our biggest and boldest community play to date, but we cannot do it without you!  We need local participants of all ages to join us on this production - not just actors but anyone who is up for being creative and telling stories with us.”
