Lots of Family Shows Coming Up in Harrogate
Last week I told you more about the educational programme of workshops for children and young people at Harrogate Theatre. This week – and as we fast-approach half term – I’d like to tell you about what’s coming up on our stages for the small humans in your life.
First, Horrible Histories is live on stage at Harrogate Theatre on Monday 25thand Tuesday 26thFebruary, with both 2pm and 5pm shows. Suitable for ages 5+ this brand new West End show has never toured before. Billed as ‘the history of Britain with the nasty bits left in’, the show promises a fab, fun experience as kids discover whether they’d be shaken or stirred by Richard III as they get to mount a mutiny against King Henry III and see Mary Tudor knock the spots off Mary Queen of Scots!
If you have younger ones to entertain, how about everyone’s favourite dragon? Zog comes to the main stage at Harrogate Theatre on Thursday 28thFebruary, with shows at 11am, 2pm, and 4pm. Large in size, and keen in nature, Zog is so eager to win a golden star at Madam Dragon’s school, where dragons learn all the things that dragons need to know. Suitable for ages 3+ this brings the well-loved children’s book to life in a way that will mesmerise your little ones.
This production of Zog is a magical adaptation with a superb folk score featuring live musicians. Needless to say it’s selling really fast, so grab yourself a great family experience if you can.
If you’re away this half term or miss out on tickets, the programme for kids at Harrogate Theatre this Easter is also looking excellent.
There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly is on the main stage on 16thApril for one show only. For ages 2+ it brings to life one of the world’s best loved nursery rhymes and is described as ‘a great introduction to the theatre’.
The young children’s classic, Dear Zoo, comes to the main stage 17th& 18thApril, again for ages 2+, and Milkshake! Live – starring Fireman Sam, Noddy, Shimmer & Shine, Digby Dragon and more – is at the Royal Hall on 18thApril.
Back at Harrogate Theatre and still in the Easter holidays, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom hits the main stage on Friday 26thand Saturday 27thApril. This wonderful show is perfect from ages 18 months and up as we follow Ben & Holly and their friends on an exciting, enchanting and musical adventure, complete with elves, princesses, and all the magic of childhood wrapped up in Harrogate.
With so much in store for families we hope to see you and your young people soon!
