Save the date - Harrogate celebrates Refugee Week 17 - 22 June

 

Refugee Week takes place every year across the world in the week around World Refugee Day on the 20 June. In the UK, Refugee Week is a nationwide programme of arts, cultural and educational events that celebrate the contribution of refugees to the UK, and encourages a better understanding between communities.

This year we're working with a Harrogate consortium to celebrate Refugee Week. Check out the events around Harrogate over the international week of celebrations.

 

Monday 17 June - Harrogate Film Society presents the award winning film 'Capernaum' at the Odeon cinema. Film starts at 6:15pm, pay on the door £6pp. PG certificate.

Thursday 20 June - Three Mothers in Harrogate Studio Theatre at 7:45pm, £12pp. For age 14+

Friday 21 June - Meet and Make craft making with members of the Harrogate refugee community. 12 noon - 2pm at Mercer Art Gallery, free event.

Saturday 22 June - Refugee Week Great Get Together picnic, all are welcome. 2 - 4pm at Knaresborough Castle. Authentic Arabic food to purchase, or bring your own picnic. Entertainment includes storytelling, singing, drumming and facepainting.
